Effective date: July 1, 2026
This policy explains how Porcupine Mechanical Ltd. ("Porcupine Mechanical," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use porcupinemechanical.com or interact with us. We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) and, where applicable, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada).
Contact information you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, and home address, when you fill out a form, book a consultation, download a resource, or contact us. Payment information when you purchase a Comfort Club membership online, which is handled by our payment processor; we don't store your full card number. Information about your home and project that you share so we can prepare for a consultation or provide services. Records of our communications with you, including emails, texts, and call notes. Technical information collected automatically when you use the website, such as IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, how you found us, and how you interact with pages (such as clicks and scrolling), gathered through cookies and similar technologies.
To respond to your requests and schedule appointments. To design, quote, deliver, and support the services you ask us for. To send you marketing communications where you've consented, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation; every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can reply STOP to any marketing text. To operate and improve the website, measure our advertising, and understand how people find us. To use reviews and testimonials you share, and we make reasonable efforts to confirm with you before using your name. To meet legal and regulatory obligations.
By submitting your information through the website, you consent to us collecting and using it for the purposes described here. You can withdraw consent for marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link, replying STOP to texts, or contacting us directly. Withdrawing marketing consent doesn't affect communications needed to deliver services you've requested.
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business: our website, booking, and customer-management platform; our payment processor, which handles Comfort Club payments (we don't store your full card number); our email and text messaging tools; analytics and heat-mapping tools that show us how visitors use the site; AI-assisted tools that help us with transcription, quoting, and drafting; and advertising platforms, including Google and Meta, whose measurement pixels help us understand our advertising. We also share information with professional advisors where needed and where the law requires. Service providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
Some of our service providers store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We choose providers that maintain reasonable privacy and security practices.
If your project has specific data-residency requirements, such as Canada-only storage, tell us before we begin work. Where we agree to particular data-handling arrangements in writing, that written agreement governs how your project information is handled and takes precedence over this section.
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described here, to maintain service records for homes we've worked on, and to meet legal, warranty, and tax requirements. When it's no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately if something goes wrong.
The website uses cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics; heat-mapping tools that record how visitors interact with pages, such as clicks and scrolling; and advertising pixels from Google and Meta that measure our ads and may be used to show you relevant ads on those platforms. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can manage ad personalization through your Google and Meta account settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website works.
We use AI-assisted tools in parts of our business, and we'd rather tell you plainly than leave you wondering. These tools help us transcribe consultation conversations so the details of your home aren't lost to memory or scribbled notes, prepare quotes accurately, and draft communications and marketing content.
Here's what that means for your information. When these tools handle your personal information, they act as service providers under this policy and are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
We configure the tools we use so that your information is not used to train their AI models. Identifying customer details are removed before any material is used for marketing. Work these tools help produce is reviewed by our team before it reaches you, and decisions about your home and your project are always made by people, not software. If you'd like to know how AI was involved in your file, just ask; we'll give you a straight answer.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask questions about how it's handled by contacting us at the details below. If you're ever concerned about how we've handled your information, we'd genuinely like to hear from you first so we can make it right; most concerns are sorted with a conversation. And if you're not satisfied with our response, you can raise the matter with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
The website is intended for adults arranging services for their homes and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as our practices or tools change. The effective date at the top tells you when it last changed.
